Tony Irish
Prior to joining PEER, Tony served for 21 years at the Department of the Interior, most recently as the Associate Solicitor for General Law. He started at Interior as a financial management specialist before attending Georgetown Law’s evening program. Upon receiving his JD, he transitioned to the Branch of General Legal Services as a staff attorney and eventually Assistant Solicitor. Within the branch, Tony developed expertise in many federal administrative law practice areas including the Freedom of Information Act, the Federal Records Act, the Privacy Act, appropriations law, discovery, congressional oversight, and the Department’s organization, structure, and delegations of authority.
Earlier in his career, Tony worked as a contractor at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. When in need of reflection or respite, he escapes to Catoctin Mountain Park, which he regards as a hidden jewel of the National Park System. He resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his children.
