Conservation groups are accusing federal agencies of systematically denying access to public information in Wyoming and other western states in order to play political favorites on public lands.
The organization Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility s now raising alarm over a swelling backlog of records requests through the Freedom of Information Act, the federal law that entitles citizens access to public records. Public information is being mummified in red-tape, the groups says, leading to bad policy and no public recourse but litigation.
