“Rob Long may have written one too many columns critical of the city to continue serving as vice chair of the Delray Beach Planning and Zoning Board. Mayor Shelly Petrolia called for Long’s removal for his most recent column saying he was “appalled” by the city’s response to “the alarming discovery of PFAS chemicals” in Delray Beach’s drinking water.
An environmental watchdog group, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, or PEER, filed a public records request to obtain the city’s test results for PFAS, known as “forever” chemicals. PEER issued a news release publicizing the city’s own test results.”
