“House Natural Resources Chairman Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is following through on his pledge to have his committee ramp up pressure on the Trump administration to remove William Perry Pendley from atop the Bureau of Land Management. Grijalva, along with Reps. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), will hold an online roundtable tomorrow focusing on Pendley and his role as BLM’s de facto acting director.
The witness panel includes representatives from conservation, Native American and government watchdog groups that are fierce critics of Pendley and many of the various initiatives he has led in the past year. An example is Tim Whitehouse, executive director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, which is suing Interior and BLM, in part, over the legality of Pendley leading BLM for more than a year without Senate confirmation.”
