“EPA has issued a request for information after an investigation into traces of “forever chemicals” linked to a common insecticide revealed contamination in certain containers, believed to be the source of the toxic substances.
Discovery of the contamination came as part of an investigation launched by EPA and Massachusetts after testing shared by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) revealed PFAS including PFOA and HFPO-DA, part of the GenX chemical process. PEER alerted the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) about the findings, as the state has long used Anvil 10+10 to curb Eastern equine encephalitis (Greenwire, Dec. 8, 2020).”
