But Lehnertz is being temporarily replaced by Woody Smeck, current superintendent of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, on November 11th. “That suggests that the investigation is going to go on for a long time,” said Jeff Ruch, executive director of Public Employees For Environmental Responsibility. Ruch said Lehnertz’ indefinite removal brings an air of guilty-until-proven-innocent. “It’s one of these things where – even if there’s no misconduct found – there’s a permanent impairment on the superintendent’s career,” he said.”
