“An independent evaluation that could usher in changes to the TSCA new chemicals programme is getting underway, the agency has told Chemical Watch.
The outside review follows a series of disclosures from agency scientists who have come forward with concerns that the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) routinely understates risk factors and allows for industry influence in pre-market reviews.
Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) – the advocacy group that filed the complaints on behalf of the agency whistleblowers – is dubious of the review.“
