Browser Information
Our web server automatically recognizes domain names and e-mail addresses (where possible). We use this information to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our web site. Your IP address will also be used to gather broad demographic information about our user community and how to best optimize our website to meet the community’s needs. All of this information is confidential and will not be shared with any party.
We partner with Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve our website and services. This information is collected on an aggregate basis. None of this information is associated with you as an individual nor is it personally identifying information. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization and security purposes. By using our site, you agree that we and Microsoft can collect and use this data.
How we Transmit Secure Information
When you send confidential personal credit card information to us on our website, a secure server software which we have licensed encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. The information is scrambled en route and decoded once it reaches our website, providing end-to-end encryption. All financial information transmitted through our website is secure. We will never ask for credit card information or bank account information through email. Emails that you may send to us may not be secure. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information to us through an unsecured email. Instead we encourage you to use our confidential forms found here: Consult an Attorney and Blow the Whistle .
Personal Information
In some places on this site — in particular for petitions and e-mail list sign-up forms — you may be asked to list your name, address, and other contact information. Information we collect is intended to help us improve the contents of our site, and in case of petitions, to provide decision-makers with necessary information about who is speaking out on a particular issue. All of this information is confidential and will not be shared with any party.
Users who sign up for our e-mail lists will receive regular communications. We never share e-mail addresses with other organizations, unless you, the user, asks us to under very specific circumstances.
If you donate to PEER, you will receive our regular community updates. PEER will not trade, share, exchange, or sell any personal donor information we have received from online or offline means, except with the expressed permission of the donor.
