Public-Land Grazing Fees at Lowest Legal Level

“The Western Watersheds Project, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, the Center for Biological Diversity and WildEarth Guardians on Thursday criticized the fee reduction in a joint news release. They say many BLM grazing allotments are in poor condition due to excessive livestock grazing. They also contend the 1966 fair-market value set for grazing would be $9.47 per AUM/HM today if adjusted for inflation, the current fee fails to account for marked growth in cow sizes over the decades, and it is a small fraction of private land lease costs.”
