“Trump on Tuesday officially withdrew William Perry Pendley’s nomination for director of the Bureau of Land Management, although he remains the de facto head of the agency. The administration said in August it would withdraw the nomination, but was waiting until the Senate returned to make it official.
Despite the withdrawal, House Democrats will keep up their pressure today on Pendley, who they say should be removed entirely from the BLM. Officials from the National Wildlife Federation, Utah Diné Bikéyah, Conserve Southwest Utah and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility — which is also suing the Interior Department over Pendley’s role — are set to speak at a roundtable this afternoon on Pendley’s record. House Natural Resources Vice Chair Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) will lead the roundtable alongside Chair Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) of the Oversight Committee.”
