“The National Park Service would be required to develop a plan to cut plastic pollution at its 423 sites under an Interior-EPA spending bill that is expected to clear the House Appropriations Committee tomorrow.
The long-stalled issue has shown signs of increased momentum this month. Just last week, a coalition of advocacy groups, including Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, GreenLatinos and Beyond Plastics, filed a petition urging NPS to immediately ban the sale of plastic water bottles and to reduce its plastic waste by 75% by 2026 (Greenwire, June 23).”
