STATEMENT | Earth Day 2021: Celebrating Environmental Whistleblowers

This Earth Day, we wanted to recognize whistleblowers and other federal and state employees who come forward at great personal risk to stand up for strong environmental and public health protections and to expose wrongdoing, malfeasance, and corruption in their agencies. We have seen them reveal the harms of toxic chemicals and pesticides; defend climate science; stand up for rare and endangered species and the programs that protect them; fight for fishable, swimmable and drinkable water;and protect the health of our children and the most vulnerable among us. Earth Day was inspired by righteous civil disobedience and social justice. Today’s whistleblowers are carrying on that tradition.
