Joanna Citron Day
Joanna joined PEER after 22 years as an environmental enforcement attorney in the federal government. She started her career in private practice before most recently serving as Senior Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). While a DOJ, Joanna litigated clean water, air, and hazardous waste cleanup cases. Prior to her time at DOJ, she was an attorney at both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with a focus on Clean Water Act cases, and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), where she worked on cleanup of hazardous wastes on federally managed lands under Superfund. She received numerous honors during her federal tenure, including eight case-related DOJ awards, four Special Achievement Awards, EPA Silver and Bronze Medals, and multiple DOI Performance Awards. Joanna holds a J.D. from the George Washington Law School and a B.S. in Resource Economics from Cornell University.
