Department of Energy Veteran Joins PEER’s Board

Michele Boyd Brings 20+ Years of Energy and Environmental Expertise

Washington, DC — Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) today announced that Michele Boyd has joined the organization’s board of directors. Boyd brings more than two decades of experience across the government, non-profit, and for-profit sectors, with deep expertise on energy and environmental issues.

Boyd previously served in leadership at the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office, where she managed a team focused on reducing barriers to equitable solar energy and storage deployment. Prior to her federal service, she worked in the for-profit sector, working to advance financing and transmission policies to enable clean energy development.

During her 12 years in the non-profit sector, Boyd spearheaded government watchdog and advocacy campaigns on energy and environmental policies.

She is currently a Senior Resident Fellow at the Solar and Storage Industries Institute.

“Michele’s breadth of experience, from federal to private sector to non-profit, makes her an invaluable addition to PEER’s board,” said PEER’s Board Chair Rick Steiner. “We’re excited to have her expertise and leadership as we continue our work to protect public employees and the environment.”

Boyd holds a Master of Science in environmental policy from the University of Michigan and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and environmental science from Purdue University.
