Environmental advocates also accuse the EPA of ignoring clear scientific evidence. Kyla Bennett, a former EPA scientist who now works with Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, said PFAS exposure can cause developmental issues in children, obesity, cholesterol problems and thyroid disorders.
“My fear is that with these people running the agency, the American people are going to start to get sicker and sicker,” Bennett said. She described the environment for current EPA scientists as “hostile.”
