The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lied to the public about the prevalence of what have come to be called “forever chemicals” in certain pesticide products available on the market, according to an advocacy group that has accused the agency of “egregious misconduct.”
Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, or PEER, and environmental toxicologist Steve Lasee filed a complaint with the agency Monday demanding the EPA retract the announcement it made a year ago that it had found no per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, in the pesticide products it had tested.
