The National Institutes of Health’s draft scientific integrity policy is “like a car without an engine”, according to a not-for-profit that encourages government employees to blow the whistle on bad environmental practices.
As well as lacking “meaningful protections for scientists and researchers”, the NIH plan also “seeks to restrict public statements by scientists”, said the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (Peer) group, which has a long interest in rules governing federal scientists. It warned the draft lacks clear rules to prevent suppression of research.
