PEERMail | Climate In Danger

Calling climate change “a hoax,” President Trump sought a billion dollars in campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry to make good on his promises to jettison climate regulations.

Now, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin is trumpeting the removal of the Endangerment Finding as part of his self-proclaimed biggest deregulation in American history. The Endangerment Finding is of critical importance because it serves as the factual basis (and therefore legal basis) for EPA regulations that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We invite you to read more about how this effort, coupled with other Trump administration actions to undermine the transition to clean energy, will make it more difficult to avoid passing climate tipping points.

PEER will submit comments on EPA’s proposal to revoke the Endangerment Finding. We encourage all members of the public to make their voices heard by sending your comments here.

Thank you for joining us in standing up for science.

Sincerely,

Tim Whitehouse
Executive Director

A federal appeals court rejected the industry’s petition to reopen the skies above Mount Rushmore National Monument and Badlands National Park, reaffirming that the flights “negatively affected visitor experience, wildlife, and tribal cultural experiences.” Read More »

Take Action to Protect Farms and Food

We invite you to sign on to our letter urging the U.S. House of Representatives to protect America’s farms and food from toxic PFAS-contaminated fertilizer. Federal lawmakers have included language in a new funding bill that would stop EPA from developing long-overdue rules to protect American farmland and those living and working on the land. That is not acceptable. Sign on here »

Tell the USDA to Respect and Protect Forest Service Employees

Please consider taking action to protect our forests. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture has announced plans to reorganize the Forest Service, eliminating its regional offices and relocating staff around the country. The plan will gut the agency. Today’s challenges of wildfire, drought, and climate change require more resources and expertise, not less, on our Forest Service lands. Sign on here »
