PEERMail | Is Congress Coming to Its Senses? No, But Now Is Still the Time to Act

Tags: , ,

Congress is finally feeling the heat for its deeply unpopular anti-environmental, anti-wildlife, and anti-government worker policies.

Just last week, the House pulled a bill to gut the Endangered Species Act, and it has become clear that the president’s proposed budget, which calls for massive cuts to environmental, public lands, and public health programs, has no chance of passage.

In more positive news, Trump’s nominee to lead the National Park Service, Scott Socha, has been quietly withdrawn from consideration. Socha lacks the necessary conservation experience and has too many potential financial conflicts of interest to run the agency.

What is clear is that many in Congress are feeling the heat from voters who are fed up with this administration’s crazy and destructive antics.

We hope you will take a moment to peruse this edition of PEERMail to see what we are doing together to continue collectively turning up the heat.

Sincerely,

Tim Whitehouse
Executive Director
