Weโ€™re Acting to Protect Our Food Supply

Tags: , ,

PEER is working with scientists, farmers, and local governments to protect Americaโ€™s food supply from toxic chemicals.

In just the last two weeks, PEER has:

  • Filed an appeal in the case on behalf of Texas farmers and others to require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to stop allowing dangerous levels of certain toxic PFAS in sewage sludge used as fertilizer.
  • Launched a sign-on letter urging Congress to reject provisions in the Farm Bill granting chemical companies legal immunity and undermining the authority of local governments to protect their residents from harmful chemicals. Please use our pre-filled letter to write your reps today. Your voice will make a difference!
  • Released the results of a PEER-funded study by Stony Brook University and Citizens Campaign for the Environment that found high levels of PFAS in produce grown in New York. Watch a webinar on the findings here.

Keeping our food systems safe and our families healthy is something we all can agree on in this time of national divisions. Thank you for supporting us in this effort!

Sincerely,

Tim Whitehouse
Executive Director
