“The Bureau of Land Management has approved what it calls a “balanced” land use plan for southwest Colorado that critics say unnecessarily emphasizes energy development over conservation.
The government watchdog group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility recently released documents it obtained via the Freedom of Information Act that indicate BLM’s Washington, D.C., office removed land use restrictions and habitat protection designations from the final version of the plan (Greenwire, Feb. 6).”
