“House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders from both parties are concerned about ongoing controversies at a key federal agency tasked with investigating chemical crises.
Questions have emerged around Lemos and the CSB’s spending. Earlier this month, the group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility circulated documents showing Lemos has spent tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars on expenses relating to travel and furniture, among other costs.
PEER also emphasized an April 1 CSB board order that gave Lemos some significant new powers, including greater control over the agency’s budget and spending, as well as the ability to bring misconduct charges against other board members (E&E News PM, May 11).”
