“Of particular moment: the May 15 letter from the National Park Service (NPS) to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) regarding unapproved changes in Pavilion Partners LLC’s plans for the Pavilion at Indiana Dunes State Park beach. PEER has been working closely with Dunes Action, which credits PEER for bringing “legal muscle” to the fight. In the May 15 letter, NPS told PEER that the updated plans for the pavilion made public in February no longer were “secondary and supportive of outdoor recreation” and that it has suggested to the DNR that Pavilion Partners be directed to either return to the original plans, submit new ones, or consider “converting” the Pavilion, the press release stated.”
