A lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency brought by a group of farmers over federally approved biosolids containing a group of chemicals known as PFAS could mark the start of a new wave of land contamination cases.
The suit — launched earlier this month in District of Columbia federal court by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility on behalf of a group of Texas ranchers — claims that the EPA had a duty under the Clean Water Act to identify toxic pollutants in biosolids and adopt appropriate regulations.
