Three former EPA officials say Congress’ new agreement on a continuing resolution (CR) extending fiscal year 2022 funding levels for EPA and most other agencies into December could be “problematic” for the TSCA program, following warnings by top officials that the office needs an immediate funding boost to meet its statutory deadlines. The CR, announced Sept. 27 and set to pass by the end of FY22 on Sept. 30, “would doom us to at least three more months of status quo, which is not sufficient to protect human health or the environment,” says Kyla Bennett, director of science policy for Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) and a former EPA scientist.
