Positive Trend for Whistleblowers

Protecting whistleblowers is at the core of PEER’s work.

That is why we are happy to see that in the past five years, whistleblower disclosures and retaliation complaints have fallen by more than forty percent, according to recently released statistics from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) reviewed by PEER.

This decline (between Fiscal Years 2017 and 2022) comes despite an increase in the number of federal employees during the same period.

In analyzing the data, we have shared a few factors that may have contributed to this decline and caveats to the OSC data.

Despite these contributing factors, this is clearly a positive trend. Thank you for your continued support of our work representing those who become whistleblowers.

Sincerely,
Tim Whitehouse
